Track & Field 1/30/2024 11:00:00 AM Great Danes & Retrievers Take Home Week 5 of #AETF Awards BOSTON, MA - This week brings more success for all 9 #AETF teams. All nine #AETF teams were in action this weekend with full schedules with 4 teams attending two different meets this weekend. UMass Lowell hosted their Riverhawk Invitational, with a few conference members in attendance. As of this week, there are 102 #AETF athletes ranked in the top-25 of their respective regions. Eleven of those athletes are in the top-3 and three are ranked 1st in the region. Dominique Clarke of UAlbany is ranked 1st in the Northeast region in the 60m dash. Kenzie Doyle is ranked first in the Northeast in the 5,000m. Maine’s Cheyenne Figueroa is ranked 1st in the weight throw in the Northeast region. In regional team rankings, on the men’s side there are 3 teams in the top-15. UAlbany jumped 4 spots from last week and are now 9th in the Northeast followed by New Hampshire at 13th and UMBC at 14th in the Mid-Atlantic. For the women, UAlbany is currently 5th in the Northeast, followed by two other teams in the top 15 regionally with UMBC and Maine being ranked 14th in their respective regions. Here are the week 5 #AETF weekly awards: Female Track Performer of the Week Caitlyn Bobb, UMBC - Jr., Sprints, Joppa, Md. Bobb took 2nd place in the 400 with a time of 54.08. This time ranked her 1st in the conference, 3rd in the Mid-Atlantic region and in the top-50 nationally at 46th. Bobb also helped lead the Retrievers to a 2nd place finish in the 4x400. She anchored the relay with a 53.32 split. The Retrievers came in at 3:44.07 which lists them at the top of the America East leaderboard and 5th in the Mid-Atlantic region. Female Field Performer of the Week Leann Nicholas, UAlbany - Jr., Jumps, Farmingdale, N.Y. Nicholas took home gold in the triple jump last week. Her jump of 42’ 11” broke a 16-year old UAlbany record and placed her in the top-15 in the nation in the event at 13th. Nicholas also competed in the long jump with a distance of 17” 0.75” at the Dr. Sander Invitational this weekend. Male Track Performer of the Week Shak Williams, UAlbany - Jr., Sprints, St. Andrew, Jamaica Finished 1st in the 60m dash. Williams finished with a time of 6.70 in the Blue Division at the Dr. Sander Invitational. Williams is now the 60m leader in the conference and is also ranked 3rd in the Northeast region. Male Field Performer of the Week Travis Robinson, UAlbany - Sr., Throws, Kingston, Jamaica Competed in the shot put at the Dr. Sander Invitational.
