Men's Basketball 1/28/2024 7:52:19 AM Men's #AEHoops Jan. 27 Recap BOSTON – Vermont continued its dominant start to conference action with a victory over Bryant to take over first place in the #AEHoops standings. Elsewhere, Binghamton won in the final seconds, NJIT had a huge comeback victory and UAlbany held off UNH. Vermont 67, Bryant 57 – Box Score The Catamounts held the league’s highest scoring offense to its second-lowest scoring output of the season on Saturday. The Bulldogs trailed 28-25 at the half and it didn’t get any better in the second as Vermont went on a run to extend their lead as high as 16 points in the final half. Vermont had eight players score at least five points, led by Nick Fiorillo with 15 points and three assists, while Ileri Ayo-Faleye added six points, eight rebounds, three blocks and three steals. Earl Timberlake led Bryant with 16 points, six rebounds and one block. Binghamton held a 28-19 lead at the half, but the Black Bears came back to take a lead with five minutes left. Jayden Clayton hit a pair of free throw with 12 seconds left for a 50-49 advantage before Torrence’s heroics. Torrence finished with six points, six rebounds and five assists while Armon Harried had 15 points, eight rebounds and four assists. Clayton paced Maine with 15 points and four rebounds. The Retrievers led by 13 after 10 minutes and pushed it to 46-24 at the half. NJIT went on a 30-8 run midway through the second half to take a one-point lead with six minutes left. It went back-and-forth, and Kjell de Graaf scored NJIT’s final six points, including the game-winner with 16 seconds left for the win. De Graaf had 18 points, seven rebounds and three blocks while Tariq Francis finished with 22 points and nine boards. Marcus Banks led UMBC with 21 points and eight rebounds. UAlbany jumped out to a 25-12 advantage in the first, but UNH closed the gap to two at the half. The Wildcats took the lead in the second, but the Great Danes fought back and pushed the lead as high as 12. Amar’e Marshall had 29 points and six rebounds while Sebastian Thomas added 25 points, seven assists and six steals. Clarence Daniels paced UNH with 21 points, eight rebounds and two steals.
