BOSTON – It was a wild night of men’s #AEHoops action, as a pair of games went to overtime, highlighted by Vermont going on the road and taking down UMass Lowell for their 20th consecutive victory over a conference opponent. Bryant also stayed perfect to set up a Saturday matchup between the Catamounts and Bulldogs with first place on the line in Smithfield, R.I.
Vermont 72, UMass Lowell 65 (OT) – Box Score
Thursday night’s thriller featured seven ties and six lead changes, but in the end the Catamounts outlasted the River Hawks in overtime. UML outscored UVM 5-0 in the final 95 seconds, but missed a last second shot which would have won it in regulation. In overtime, UVM outscored UML 10-3 in the final two minutes to clinch the win. Ileri Ayo-Faleye was all over the court with 15 points, ten rebounds and five blocks, while Shamir Bogues had 19 points and eight rebounds. Max Brooks supplied nine points, eight rebounds, three blocks and two steals for the River Hawks.
Maine 81, UAlbany 73 – Box Score
The Black Bears and Great Danes went back-and-forth in the first half and Maine scored five straight to end the half leading 38-34. The Black Bears stretched their lead as high as 18 in the second half, though UAlbany was able to close the gap back down to three in the final four minutes. Peter Filipovity posted 23 points and 11 rebounds while Kristians Feierbergs had 16 points and five boards. Sebastian Thomas paced the Great Danes with 20 points, five rebounds and two blocks.
Bryant 70, NJIT 55 – Box Score
The Bulldogs shook off a slow start to take a 31-21 at the half. The Bryant lead never dipped below six points in the final 20 minutes and the Bulldogs pushed it as high as 18 points with two minutes left, finishing with the 15-point win. All five starters scored in double figures, led by Earl Timberlake with 11 points, 11 rebounds and two blocks. Daniel Rivera added 11 points, seven rebounds and two blocks. Tariq Francis scored a team-high 17 points for NJIT with five rebounds.
New Hampshire 79, Binghamton 73 (OT) – Box Score
The Bearcats grabbed a 37-33 lead over UNH at the half pushed their lead to 47-35 four minutes into the second. However, the Wildcats responded with a run o draw even. It was back-and-forth with Ahmad Robinson hitting a driving layup with just three seconds left to force OT. Robinson came up clutch again with a jumper with 52 seconds left in OT to give UNH the lead for good. He finished with 22 points, seven rebounds and five assists while Clarence Daniels had 32 points, ten rebounds and two blocks. Dan Petcash led Binghamton with 16 points, three rebounds and two assists.
