Men's #AEHoops Jan. 20 Recap

BOSTON – UMass Lowell and Bryant had impressive performances, while New Hampshire and Maine used strong fourth quarters to come away with victories on Saturday. The results set up a clash between 5-0 UML and 4-0 UVM on Thursday night in Lowell.
 
UMass Lowell 80, Binghamton 60 – Box Score
The River Hawks shot their way to a 43-25 lead at the half and kept up the offense in the second half to earn a 20-point victory on the road. UML had five players score in double figures, led by Quinton Mincey with 17 points, six rebounds and five steals off the bench. Cam Morris III had 17 points with four rebounds. Tariq Balogun paced Binghamton with 17 points, five rebounds and two assists.
 
Bryant 98, UAlbany 87 – Box Score
Earl Timberlake kept the Bulldogs perfect in #AEHoops action as part of an impressive performance at UAlbany. They led 45-37 at the half and then outscored the Great Danes 53-52 over the final 20 minutes to secure the win. Timberlake had 26 points, nine rebounds, three assists and two blocks, while Daniel Rivera did a bit of everything with 14 points, nine rebounds, five assists, five blocks and four steals. Amar’e Marshall led UAlbany with 26 points, five rebounds and five assists.

 

New Hampshire 64, UMBC 58 – Box Score
The Wildcats secured their second straight #AEHoops win with a strong second half. UMBC led 29-22 at the break and 43-36 midway through the second half. However, Naim Miller gave UNH a 54-53 lead with 2:52 left, jumpstarting a 10-2 run for the Wildcats to put the game away. Clarence Daniels posted a double-double of 22 points and 11 rebounds while Jaxon Baker added 10 points and 11 boards. Dion Brown had 15 points and 13 rebounds for UMBC.

 
 
Maine 70, NJIT 64 – Box Score
The Black Bears grabbed a 32-25 advantage at the half and pushed their lead to ten early in the second. NJIT didn’t go away and managed to close the gap to two multiple times in the final four minutes, but Maine held on for the win. Peter Filipovity had 20 points and 13 rebounds while Kellen Tynes chipped in 12 points, eight rebounds, five assists and five steals. Elijah Buchanan led NJIT with 10 points, seven rebounds and five steals.
