Women's Basketball 1/13/2024 10:12:05 PM Women’s #AEHoops Jan. 13 Recap BOSTON – UAlbany narrowly escaped with its 10th straight victory while Vermont, UMass Lowell and Bryant also earned wins in some tight contests on Saturday afternoon. The Great Danes improved to 3-0 in #AEHoops action, while UVM and UML are both 3-1. UAlbany 60, Binghamton 58 – Box Score The Great Danes looked to be in control at the half, leading by 11, but Binghamton mounted a furious comeback in the final 20 minutes. The Bearcats came back to tie up the contest in the third, and trailed by one early in the fourth but were never ever to take back the lead as UAlbany held on for its 10th straight win. Kayla Cooper was dominant inside with 23 points, 14 rebounds, four assists and two steals. Denai Bowman scored a season-high 21 points for Binghamton. Bryant 55, New Hampshire 54 – Box Score It was a back-and-forth contest as neither team could gain a significant edge in the opening 20 minutes. UNH did push its leads to nine points midway through the third, but Bryant stormed back to take a 47-46 lead. It went down to the final seconds as Mariona Planes Fortuny made a free throw with just six seconds left for a one-point lead, and a last second three by Avery O’Connor was off the mark as the Bulldogs won their second straight. Kemari Reynolds did it all for Bryant with 10 points, 11 rebounds and three assists. Breezie Williams led UNH with 12 points. Vermont 68, NJIT 55 – Box Score The Catamounts jumped out to a 22-12 lead after one quarter and pushed the lead to 54-36 through periods on the way to a 13-point victory to improve to 3-1 in conference action. Emma Utterback scored a team-high 20 points with six rebounds, while Anna Olson added 16 points. Trinity Williams had a double-double of 10 points, 12 rebounds and three blocks. UMass Lowell 59, UMBC 46 – Box Score Three straight wins for the River Hawks after earning their most impressive win of the season on Saturday. UML led 17-11 after one quarter and then 38-26 at the half. The defense allowed just 20 second-half points to secure the win. Rayne Durant had 16 points, 11 rebounds, three steals and two blocks while Sydney Watkins added 10 points. Jaden Walker was solid with seven points, eight rebounds and two steals for UMBC.
