#AEXC Season Opens With 8 Teams Competing

BOSTON, MA - Cross Country returns for the 2023 season this past weekend. Eight out of nine teams opened up their season competing last weekend. Maine held the Black Bear Cross Country Invitational on Friday, hosting Bryant and New Hampshire. Vermont hosted their season-opener with the men's team winning the team competition and the women’s team placing second.

Male Performer of the Week 
Jafar Hussen, UMBC - Sr., New Carrollton, MD.
  • Finished second at the Mount St. Mary’s 5K Duals in UMBC’s opening season meet
  • Ran a 15:08.48, and set a new course record for UMBC set in 2012
 
Female Performer of the Week
Megan Randall, Maine - R-Fr., Bangor, ME
  • Placed 2nd in her first meet for Maine
  • Posted a 17:54.9 in her 5k with an average mile of 5:45.9
