#AEFH Week 2: California’s Big Win Highlights Strong Week

BOSTON – California secured the biggest #AEFH victory of the early season on Friday, taking down #5 Penn State 3-2 in double overtime, while five other programs came away with at least one win last week.
 
Vermont earned a 3-2 overtime victory against Lafayette, while UMass Lowell blasted Merrimack 9-0 in Friday’s action. On Sunday, New Hampshire, Maine, and UC Davis all earned victories, while UAlbany hung tough with Iowa, who moved up to #1 in the nation on Tuesday afternoon.
 
This weekend, Maine hosts #3 Northwestern and #20 UMass while UAlbany plays at Cornell and Stanford travels to face #18 Ohio State. UMass Lowell goes on the road to play #1 Iowa on Sunday.
 
  
2023 #AEFH Weekly Award Winners – Sept. 6
Offensive Player of the Week

Nicole Poulakis, New Hampshire – So., Forward, Ajax, Ontario
  • Registered six points in a 1-1 week for the Wildcats.
  • Factored in all four goals in UNH’s 4-1 win over Ball State, tallying two goals and two assists.
  • This is Poulakis’ first #AEFH Offensive Player of the Week honor.
 
Defensive Player of the Week
Tina Jolly, California – So., Goalkeeper, Rosario, Argentina
  • Went 1-1 with a 2.0 GAA and 10 saves against a pair of ranked opponents last week.
  • Earned her first collegiate win in the 3-2 double overtime win over #5 Penn State. She finished with five saves on seven shots on goal, including three saves in overtime.
  • Recorded five saves in a 2-1 loss to #16 Rutgers last Monday.
  • This is Jolly’s first career #AEFH Defensive Player of the Week honor.
 
Rookie of the Week
Saylor Kuefler, Maine – Fr., Forward, Coquitlam, British Columbia
  • Totaled three points in a 1-1 week for Maine.
  • Had one goal and one assist in a 5-3 win over Ohio.
  • Added a goal in a 3-2 loss to Boston University.
  • This is Kuefler’s first career #AEFH Rookie of the Week honor.
