#AEFH Week 3: Five Programs Earn Wins

BOSTON – Five different programs secured wins last week, highlighted by California and UAlbany both winning a pair of contests. Stanford also earned its first win of the season, while Bryant and UMass Lowell secure wins.
 
Cal started the week by taking down LIU 2-1 and finished it a day later with a 9-1 victory over Stonehill. UAlbany, meanwhile, beat Cornel 3-2 in a shootout on Sunday after shutting out Hofstra 3-0 on Friday. Both Maine and UVM fell to No. 3 Northwestern, while UMass Lowell kept it close with No. 1 Iowa.
 
Conference plays begins this week for half of the league, beginning with Stanford at New Hampshire on Friday at 2 p.m. UC Davis travels to Maine FH Wfor a 3 p.m. in the conference contest on Friday. UVM, meanwhile, is at No. 1 Iowa at 4 p.m. On Sunday, the Wildcats host UC Davis while Stanford is at Maine in a rematch of last year’s #AEFH Semifinals which the Cardinal won 3-1. On Sunday UMass Lowell does battle in non-conference play with #20 UMass.
 
 
2023 #AEFH Weekly Award Winners – Sept. 12
Offensive Player of the Week

Daniella Rhodes, California – Gr., Forward, Durban, South Africa
  • Registered five goals and 10 points as the Golden Bears went 2-0 last week.
  • Had four goals, including the game-winner in a 9-1 win over Stonehill.
  • Added the first goal of the game in Cal’s 2-1 win over LIU.
  • This is Rhodes’ first #AEFH Offensive Player of the Week honor.
 
Defensive Player of the Week
Alison Smisdom, UAlbany – Jr., M/D, Antwerp, Belgium
  • Led Great Danes to a pair of victories and part of a defense which only allowed two goals, while also scoring three times
  • Tallied both of UAlbany’s regulation goals against Cornell in eventual 3-2 shootout victory.
  • Scored once in 3-0 shutout of Hofstra.
  • This is Smisdom’s first career #AEFH Defensive Player of the Week honor.
 
Rookie of the Week
Gemma Townsend, Stanford – Fr., Forward, Esher, England
  • Totaled five points on two goals and an assist in a 1-1 week.
  • Scored twice and also dished off one against Richmond.
  • This is Townsend’s first career #AEFH Rookie of the Week honor.
