BOSTON - The 2023-24 academic year kicked off as it always does, with women’s soccer last week. #AEWSOC teams saw success in week one season with all nine teams earning at least one point as they combined to go 8-6-4 overall, good for a .555 winning percentage.
Maine, which is looking to build off last season’s 9-3-5 campaign, got off to a good start with wins over LeMoyne and Rhode Island. Bryant and NJIT also went unbeaten posting 1-0-1 weeks.
Fifteen more games take place this week, including four on America East campuses.

Offensive Player of the Week
Gabby Zalot, NJIT – Sr., Midfielder, Levittown, Pa.
- Tallied six points on two goals and two assists in NJIT’s win over St. Peter’s on Sunday.
- The six points set a new Highlander single-game Division I standard.
- This is Zalot’s’ first career #AEWSOC Offensive Player of the Week honor.
Defensive Player of the Week
Selena Negron, Bryant - So., Goalkeeper, Easthampton, Mass.
- Stopped all eight shots she faced over two games last week.
- Helped Bryant to two clean sheets and a 1-0-1 start to the season.
- This is Negron’s first career #AEWSOC Defensive Player of the Week honor.
Rookie of the Week
Luise Reinwald, Maine – Fr., Defender, Munich, Germany
- Assisted on the game-winning goal vs. LeMoyne in her first collegiate game.
- Helped steady a back line that allowed no goals and only three shots on goal on way to a perfect 2-0 start.
- This is Reinwald’s first career #AEWSOC Rookie of the Week honor.
