Jake Restivo Honored as America East Man of the Year

Manchester, Vt. – Binghamton men’s track and field senior Jake Restivo has been named the America East Man of the Year, as announced by the conference at its annual awards banquet on Wednesday evening.
 
Restivo is the second Bearcat to secure this honor and the first long jumper to receive this award. This award recognizes the conference's senior male student-athlete who has best distinguished himself throughout his collegiate career in the areas of academic achievement, athletic excellence, service and leadership. 
 
The graduate student concluded his athletic career at the 2023 America East Outdoor Track & Field Championship, where he placed third in the long jump. For his career he has four top-three finishes in America East Championships, highlighted by a gold medal at the 2022 Indoor Track & Field Championship with a leap of 7.28 meters. His career-best jump is 7.37 meters.
 
Restivo was a three-year captain for the Bearcats and his performances helped the men’s track and field program to third place finishes at the 2023 Indoor and Outdoor Track & Field Championships. The Bearcats also took third in both 2022 Indoor and Outdoor Championships.
 
Academically, Restivo earned a 3.64 GPA as an Integrative Neuroscience major with an Anthropology minor.
 
Since the fall of 2020, Restivo has spent time outside of school as a EMT with both the Broome County Ambulance Service and Mohawk Ambulance Service. He was a member of SAAC and in the fall of 2020 was a member of Binghamton’s Voter Registration Club, where he organized a club to educate the student population on how and why their vote was needed ahead of the 2020 election.

The nine nominees for the 2023 America East Man of the Year award were announced were announced on Monday, May 22. Three finalists, which included Restivo, NJIT's Liam Brown and UAlbany's Graydon Hogg were announced on Thursday, June 1
