BURLINGTON, Vt. – In its first season as an America East member, Bryant has won the men’s lacrosse championship! Aidan Goltz’s goal in double overtime led Bryant to a 12-11 win over UAlbany in the #AEMLAX title game on Saturday afternoon at Vermont’s Virtue Field

With the win, Bryant earns America East's automatic bid to the 2023 NCAA Men’s Lacrosse Championship and will learn its draw during the NCAA Selection Show, which takes place on Sunday night at 9 p.m. on ESPN2.

Kevin Groeninger was named the championship’s Most Outstanding Player after totaling five goals and two assists in the championship game.

Bryant, the tournament’s No. 2 seed, scored four of the game’s first five goals and took a 4-1 lead on Goltz’s tally with 4:19 left in the first quarter. The Bulldogs opened up a 7-3 lead before UAlbany made its run.

UAlbany, the tournament’s No. 4 seed making its league record 16th title game appearance, scored six of the game’s next seven goals and took its first lead of the day on Parker Emmett’s goal with 6:18 left in the third quarter.

The teams traded scores again and the Bulldogs tied it up on Jake Lonsinger’s goal early in the fourth. The game went nearly 10 minutes without a goal before Silas Richmond, an All-Championship selection, gave UAlbany the lead with 2:17 left. But, Bryant forced overtime on Timmy Hackett’s score from in close with just 14 seconds left.

After a scoreless first overtime, Goltz delivered the game winner on a bounce shot midway through the second overtime period. The championship is Bryant's first in any sport as an America East member.
