Final Week of #AETF Awards Revealed; 2023 Championship Gets Underway Saturday

BOSTON - After most teams splitting their time at Penn Relays and UMass Pre-Conference Invitational, all #AETF teams are gearing up for the 2023 America East Outdoor Track and Field Championships that are beginning this weekend.

Here are the week 6 #AETF Weekly Award Winners – May 3
 
Male Track Performer of the Week 
Joe Young, UMass Lowell - Jr., Distance, Dorchester, Mass. 
  • At Penn Relays, Young took 5th in the 3000 steeplechase with a personal best time of  8:52.95 
  • He is currently first in America East and ranked 6th in the Northeast 
Male Field Performer of the Week 
James Kotowski, UMass Lowell - So., Throws, Stoneham, Mass. 
  • Kotowski won gold in the javelin throw, beating 13 competitors with a distance of 231’0” 
  • The Penn Relay Champion is ranked 27th in the NCAA
Female Track Performer of the Week
Emily Sessa, UMass Lowell - Gr., Middle Distance, Tewksbury, Mass. 
  • Sessa finished 17th  out of a field of 31 in the 1500m.
  • Her personal best time of 4:22.85 gives her a chance at an NCAA Regionals bid and puts her at 2nd on the conference leaderboard 
Female Field Performer of the Week 
Leann Nicholas, UAlbany - So., Jumps, Farmingdale, N.Y.
  • Nicholas finished 5th in the triple jump at Penn Relays this past weekend with a distance of 41’10.00”
  • This is Nicholas’ first outdoor weekly awards honor of the season
