Binghamton, N.Y. - In a day dominated by the top seeds, Maine and UMBC got their first wins of the #AEBASE championship, while Binghamton advances forward in the tournament after day 2 of play in the tournament.
The top seeded Black Bears held off the River Hawks as they advanced to Day 3 in the winners bracket. After 4 led changes, Maine came out on top in their first game of the #AEBASE Championship. In the second game of the day, it was all UMBC in their first #AEBASE tournament game. The Bearcats made a run late in the game, but the Retrievers were able to hold Binghamton off. The third game of the day was nothing short of exciting. #3 Binghamton won from behind after trailing the game for 7 innings.
Day 3 of the tournament opens with the two top-seeded teams going head to head, with #2 UMBC taking on #1 Maine at 1 p.m. winners bracket matchup followed by #3 Binghamton taking on the loser of the UMBC v. Maine game at 5 p.m.

#1 Maine 10, #5 UMass Lowell 7
- It was the River Hawks who opened up scoring first. Fritz Genther singled to left center bringing in Jacob Humphrey to put UMass Lowell on the scoreboard.
- The Black Bears answered right away with Nick White with an RBI of their own tying it up at 1-1
- Genther again put the River Hawks back in the lead with a home run and bringing in 1 to go ahead 3-1 in the top of the third
- The Black Bears had another response with a solo homer by Quinn McDaniel and White with a 2-run home run ending the inning ahead 4-3
- UMass Lowell took the lead back in the 4th with an two RBIs from Robert Gallahger and Genther, 5-4
- Maine then goes on to hit another homer bringing in another two runs - keeping the lead
- The bottom of the 5th, Maine went ahead again 6-5 with a 2-run homer from Matt McElwain.
- Two more RBI in the 6th added 3 runs to the Black Bears lead making it 9-5
- The River Hawks weren’t done when Trey Brown hit a two-run homer in the 7th inning to cut the lead to 2, 9-7
- The Black Bears were able to hold off the River Hawks finishing their scoring in the 8th adding a run with another RBI from Goodman
#2 UMBC 7, #3 Binghamton 3
- UMBC started off hot in the first few innings. Luke Trythall singled to shortstop, for an RBI bringing in Justin Taylor.
- Rookie of the Year, Leewood Molessa then singled to left field, allowing Ian Diaz to score, 2-0 at the end of the first.
- UMBC kept rolling in the 3rd with a Tony Krueger homer to right field, which brought in 2 runners, 4-0
- Anthony Swenda then brought the lead to 7 with a homer bringing in two runners as well
- Binghamton responded to UMBC’s run in the 4th with a RBI from Devan Bade making it 7-1
- Bade again singled for an RBI and cut the lead to 7-2 in the 6th
- The Bearcats added one more run in the 7th with Kevin Gsell hitting a RBI to bring in Tommy Reifler and closing the gap to 7-3
#3 Binghamton 10, #5 UMass Lowell 5
- UMass Lowell scored first off of a wild pitch. The next at bat, Alex Luccini a RBI bringing in another runner quickly making it 2-0 in the River Hawks favor
- ?Brandon Fish was next to bring a runner home making the score at the end of the first 3-0.
- BInghamton got some momentum with Binghamton's Mike Gunning came up big for the Bearcats with a homer and bringing in Evin Sullivan closing the lead to 1 at 3-2
- The River Hawks extended their lead in the 3rd with two RBI by Ryan Proto and Luccini going ahead 5-2
- The momentum shifts in the 7th inning starting off with a home run by Sullivan whil also brings in Gsell making it 5-4.
- Devan Bade ties it up at 5 for the Bearcats after doubling to right center bringing a runner home.
- Two wild pitches from UMass Lowell allowed both Zachary Taylor and Cavan Tully to score and for the first time the Bearcats lead 6-5 and then 7-5.
- Kevin Gsell finished the scoring for Binghamton with a home run bringing in two more Bearcats with a final score of 10-5.
