Binghamton, N.Y. - The River Hawks and the Bearcats survived and advanced onto another day of the 2023 America East Baseball Championship as UMass Lowell and Binghamton both posted victories Wednesday at the Bearcats Baseball Complex.
The fifth seeded River Hawks never trailed in the first game of the #AEBASE Championship as they upset fourth seeded, Bryant 6-0 thanks to a dominant pitching performance from Joshua Becker. The second game of the day had a combined six home runs, including two from Evin Sullivan as the Bearcats out-slugged NJIT 14-6.
Day 2 of the tournament begins with top-seeded Maine hosting fifth-seeded UMass Lowell at 11:00 a.m., followed by second-seeded UMBC and third-seeded Binghamton at 3:00 p.m. Losers of games 3 & 4 will face off at 7:00 pm.

- Jacob Humphrey opened up scoring for UMass Lowell with a solo home run in the first.
- UMass Lowell then broke open the game in the first with Proto hitting a single to right field, bringing in Robert Gallagher making it 2-0.
- In the second Hernandez doubled to right center bringing in Tobin for another run
- Scoring halted until the top of the 5th with another RBI from Proto and another homer from Humphrey.
- In the 9th Brown scored on a wild pitch earning the River Hawks their 6th run of the game.
- Joshua Becker was dominant as he went the distance without allowing a run while giving up just three hits with eight strikeouts.
#3 Binghamton 14 , #6 NJIT 6
- NJIT struck first with Donnelly hitting a grand slam in the first inning to put the Highlanders up 4-0.
- Binghamton was quick to respond in the bottom of the inning with three quick runs and then a slam by Mike Stellrecht to put the Bearcats up 7-4.
- NJIT responded with back-to-back homers by Ty Sallie and Jarrod Donnelly in the 3rd, the gap to 7-6 Binghamton.
- The Bearcats pulled away with a run in the 4th and two more in the 7th for a 10-6 advantage.
- Another grand slam by Sullivan in the 8th inning widened the gap to eight for Binghamton, 14-6.
- Sullivan finished with two home runs and six RBI in the contest, while Thomas Babalis earned the victory with 6.0 innings of scoreless relief. He only allowed two hits while striking out eight batters.
