Bracket Set for #AEBASE Championship, Starting Wednesday

BOSTON - The bracket for the 2023 #AEBASE Championship is set as the six #AEBASE teams head into the final America East Championship of 2022-23.

The postseason will feature six teams for the sixth time in seven postseasons. The four-day hybrid single-elimination and double-elimination tournament will take place May 24-27 in Binghamton, N.Y. This will be the first #AEBASE Championship at the newly renovated Bearcats Baseball Complex.

Maine earned the outright regular season title with its sweep of Bryant and finished play 19-5, while UMBC was second at 16-8. Bryant and Binghamton both concluded with 12-12 records and went 3-3 against each other during the regular season. Binghamton earned the tiebreak due to its 1-2 record against the Black Bears during the regular season. NJIT and Lowell both went 11-13 and the River Hawks took the fifth seed by going 3-0 against the Highlanders this year.

2023 is the beginning of a new hybrid single elimination format for the #AEBASE Championships. First pitch for Wednesday is scheduled for 1 pm between #4 Bryant vs. #5 UMass Lowell and then followed by #3 Binghamton vs. #6 NJIT at 5 pm. Losers of both games will be eliminated. The remainder of the tournament, beginning Thursday, is double elimination.

The bracket will re-seed following the opening day with #1 Maine playing the lower-seeded winner of the first two games on Thursday at 11 a.m. and #2 UMBC playing the other winner at 3 p.m

The winners of the opening games will face off in the second of two games on Friday with the winner of that game advancing to the Saturday afternoon championship game.

All games will air on ESPN+ domestically and AmericaEast.TV outside of the United States.
