4 Standout Performances Earn Week 4 #AETF Awards

BOSTON- #AETF weekly awards are out after a record-breaking weekend for the #AETF teams. Some notable performances from last weekend set a total of 11 new school records across institutions highlighted by Iosif Papa, in the discus threw a personal best of 54.07m breaking UMBC’s record that had been in place for 22 years. Also having a record-breaking performance, Aidan O’Hern ran a 4:05.64 mile breaking New Hampshire’s oldest standing record for both indoor and outdoor season that had been in place since 1976. 
 
#AETF teams have stayed in the top-25 of their respective regional rankings, including UAlbany men at 10th in the Northeast region. Both moving up in the rankings, UMass Lowell moved up two spots to 18th and Binghamton men moved up four spots from last week and are now ranked 19th. New Hampshire men joining them, moving up 3 spots, is now ranked 23rd, while Maine hangs on to the top 25th spot for the 2nd week in a row. Also, on the men’s side UMBC moved up 2 spots and is now ranked 19th in the Mid-Atlantic region. NJIT stays in the top 25 this week at 25th in the Mid-Atlantic region. On the women’s side, UAlbany stays in the top-10 of the rankings at 7th in the Northeast region. Moving up one spot from last week is Binghamton at the 18th spot. Jumping up in the rankings are UMass Lowell, moving up 5 spots to 20th. Maine, Bryant, and UMBC’s women’s teams all stay in the top-25 rankings at 22nd, 23rd, and 24th respectively in their region.

Male Track Performer of the Week
Gianni Henry, UAlbany - Fr., Mid-Distance, Kingston, Jamaica
  • Took home gold in the 800m with a personal best time of - 1:49.03. Henry is the first Great Dane to break 1:50.00 since 2010. This time puts him at the top of the America East performance list and 4th in the Northeast region.  
  • Henry also finished 1st in the 1500m with a personal best time of 3:49.02. His time is a freshman class record at UAlbany, surpassing previous mark of 3:50.68 set in 2017 
Male Field Performer of the Week 
Joshua Hoffman, New Hampshire - Jr., Throws, Litchfield, N.H.
  • Took home 1st in the discus throw with a throw of 179’4”.
  • Hoffman currently leads the conference in discus, and is 2nd in the Northeast and 32nd on the East region leaderboard 
Female Track Performer of the Week 
Rori Lowe, UAlbany - Jr., Sprints, Bronx, N.Y.
  • Placed 4th in the 200m with a time of 24.05. Her time is 3rd in the conference and 8th in the Northeast
  • Took 5th in the 400m with a personal best time of 54.89. This time puts her at the top of the America East leaderboard and 7th in the Northeast 
  • Helped lead her 4x100 team to a broken school record, running the 3rd leg and coming in 1st with a total time of 44.60. This time is currently the fastest in the conference and in the 
Female Field Performer of the Week 
Mackenzie Wilson, Maine - Sr., Throws, Lasalle, Ontario
  • Won the hammer throw with a distance of 199’7”
  • Wilson’s throw is 1st in conference, 3rd in the Northeast region, and 24th on the East region leaderboard
