BOSTON - The 2023 America East Baseball season got underway this weekend. Opening day was Friday with five schools competing over the weekend.
Both Maine and NJIT were able to find the win column against their opponents. Maine defeated Pittsburgh going 2 of 3 in the weeknd series against PIttsburgh. NJIT also went 2 of 3 against Davidson. Up next UMBC opens up their season against Delaware on Tuesday followed by a full slate of baseball this weekend.

Player of the Week
Connor Goodman, Maine - Sr., Designated Hitter, Miami Beach, Fl.
- Slashed .455/.563/.909 on a 2-1 opening weekend
- Goodman had 5 hits, 2 doubles, 1 home run, 9 RBI’s and scored 2 runs this weekend
Pitcher of the Week
Aidan Kidd, NJIT - Jr., Left-Handed Pitcher, Laguna Beach, CA.
- Pitched 5 no-hit innings to help NJIT defeat Davidson
- Stuck out 9 over the five shutout innings
Rookie of the Week
Gianni Gamardella, Maine - Fr., Pitcher, West Haven, CT.
- Pitched 3 innings in relief to help Maine earn a win over Pittsburgh
- Allowed just 1 run on 4 hits and struck out 4 batters
Fans will once again be able to watch the majority of #AEBASE this season. Select games will air on The AE on ESPN while others will air on AmericaEast.TV.
