BOSTON – Entering the final week of the regular season, UAlbany and Vermont both clinched top-two seeds in the upcoming conference tournament by going 2-0 last week, while UMBC improved to 10-5 in conference play with a Saturday win.
The Week That Was
- The Catamounts extended their win streak to an impressive 12 games, outlasting New Hampshire 43-36 and then taking down NJIT 85-73.
- UAlbany also kept its hopes at a regular season championship alive by beating UMBC 74-67 and then edging Maine 53-50 on Saturday to improve to 13-2 in #AEHoops action.
- The Retrievers moved into third place in the standings at 10-5 by finishing off the week with a 90-43 victory over UNH.
- UMass Lowell earned an impressive victory Saturday, beating Binghamton 62-55 on the road.
Looking Ahead
- Women’s #AEHoops action on Wednesday features four games with serious implications for playoff seeding, led by NJIT at Bryant and Vermont at Binghamton.
- The regular season concludes on Saturday, highlighted by UAlbany traveling to NJIT and UVM hosting Bryant. UNH and UMass Lowell also battle it out in a contest that could decide the final playoff spot.
A reminder that every round of the Jersey Mike’s #AEPlayoffs will take place on the higher seed’s home court so earning home court advantage will prove crucial once again. The league champion will earn an automatic berth into the NCAA Women's Basketball Championship.

Fans will once again be able to watch every #AEHoops game this season regardless of where they live!. The majority games will air on The AE on ESPN, either ESPN+ or ESPN3, in the United States. Games will also be available internationally on AmericaEast.TV. Those games will be available on computers, OTT devices and the brand new America East app, which is available on all IOS and Android devices and can be found by searching ‘America East Conference’ in app stores.

Kayla Cooper, UAlbany – Jr., Guard, Frederick, Md.
- Averaged 18.0 points, 11.0 rebounds and 3.0 assists in a pair of victories last week.
- Tallied 17 points and 11 rebounds with three assists as UAlbany took down third place UMBC
- Finished with 19 points, 11 rebounds and three assists as the Great Danes held of Maine to secure a top two seed in the #AEPlayoffs.
- This is Cooper’s third Women’s #AEHoops Player of the Week honor this year.
Rookie of the Week
Alejandra Zuniga, NJIT – Fr., Guard, Madrid, Spain
- Averaged 22.0 points, 4.5 rebounds and 4.5 assists per game in a 1-1 week for NJIT.
- Posted career-highs of 31 points and five assists in a win over Binghamton.
- Concluded the week with 13 points, six rebounds and four assists in a loss to UVM.
- This is Zuniga’s fourth #AEHoops Rookie of the Week honor.
