BOSTON – Vermont earned the first big #AEMLAX victory of the year, taking down No. 14 Boston University 14-12 at home on Saturday. The Catamounts were one of four America East programs to earn wins on Saturday.
UVM stretched its lead against the Terriers as high as eight goals before a late run provided the 14-12 final. It was the team’s first non-conference win over a ranked opponent. Merrimack continued its torrid start to the season, beating Holy Cross 14-9 and then dispatching LIU 15-9 on Saturday. Binghamton and Bryant also earned season-opening victories this past weekend.
Eight more non-conference games take place this week with each program taking the field. Bryant will test itself against Boston University while Merrimack hosts Dartmouth and UVM travels to face Utah on Saturday.
The preseason poll was announced on January 25.
