BOSTON – Vermont and New Hampshire both went 2-0 last week, while Maine and UAlbany came through with impressive wins to highlight a strong week for #AEHoops.
The Week That Was
- Maine nearly pulled off the upset of the year against No. 17 Indiana. The Black Bears at the half and through three quarters, but the Hoosiers managed to come through in the fourth and escape with a victory. They did finish the week with an impressive win over Fordham.
- Vermont bested defending Patriot League Champion Holy Cross at home 46-44 and also beat Dartmouth to improve to 5-4.
- UAlbany christened its new home arena with a victory on Saturday over Siena, 76-58 to capture the Albany Cup.
- New Hampshire also went undefeated last week, with a 51-41 win over Northeastern and a 79-64 victory against CCSU.
A First Look at NET Rating
- The first NET ratings of the 2023-24 season have been released and the America East has three programs with a NET of better than 165.
- Maine leads all program at a NET of 138, followed by UAlbany at 142 and Vermont at 162.
Looking Ahead
- This week there are 14 contests scheduled with Vermont, UAlbany, UMass Lowell and New Hampshire all playing a pair of Division I opponents. The Catamounts and River Hawks are on the road twice while UAlbany and New Hampshire each have one home game.
- Maine only plays once, but faces Harvard which 5-3 and has a current NET of 58.
- UMBC, Binghamton, Bryant and NJIT are also in action with one Division I contest apiece.

Fans will once again be able to watch every #AEHoops game this season regardless of where they live!. The majority games will air on The AE on ESPN, either ESPN+ or ESPN3, in the United States. Games will also be available internationally on AmericaEast.TV. Those games will be available on computers, OTT devices and the brand new America East app, which is available on all IOS and Android devices and can be found by searching ‘America East Conference’ in app stores.
The women’s #AEHoops preseason poll was announced on Oct. 19.

Player of the Week
Anne Simon, Maine – Gr., Guard, Sandweiler, Luxembourg
- Averaged 30.5 points, 9.5 rebounds and 2.5 steals in a 1-1 week.
- Poured in a career-best 34 points with 11 rebounds and five steals as Maine nearly upset No. 17 Indiana.
- Shot 9-for-12 from the field with 27 points, eight rebounds and three assists in a road win at Fordham.
- This is Simon’s third Women’s #AEHoops Player of the Week honor this year.
Rookie of the Week
Mia Mancini, Bryant – Fr., Guard, Mansfield, Mass.
- Averaged 14.5 points, 3.5 rebounds and 3.5 assists per game in a 1-1 week.
- Had a career-high 28 points, including seven triples and three rebounds in a three-point win over Sacred Heart.
- Finished with one point, six assists and four rebounds in a five-point loss to Brown.
- This is Mancini’s third career #AEHoops Rookie of the Week honor.
