Men's #AEHoops Week 7: Top Performances Highlight Strong Week

BOSTON – Only 13 games took place ahead of a holiday break last week. America East teams won seven of them with seven different teams earning a victory.  .

  • Seven of the America East’s nine men’s basketball programs are over .500.
  • The nine schools have combined to go 63-53 (.543) so far this season.
  • UNH has won four of its last five its last four games including a 91-81 win at Rhode Island on Thursday. Clarence Daniels led the way with 27 points and 10 rebounds.
  • Earl Timberlake had a triple-double of 15 points, 11 rebounds and 10 assists in a win over Drexel on Friday. It was the first triple-double by an America East player in nearly seven years.
  • Vermont dominated Toledo on the road, 86-60, on Wednesday.
  • Adam Hess hit an NJIT-record 10 three-pointers and scored 32 points in a win over Division III Medgar Evers. The 10 treys are tied for the third most in a game in league history.
  • Yuri Covington scored a career-best 28 points to pace UMass Lowell to a 71-63 win at Boston University on Friday.
  • Binghamton has won three of its last four games and beat Niagara 74-69 on Tuesday behind a career-best 21 points from Tariq Balogun.
  • Jonathan Beagle had a double-double of 18 points and 11 boards in a 93-71 win over Sacred Heart on Tuesday.
  • Conference play kicks off with four games on January 6.
America East Links Fans will once again be able to watch every #AEHoops game this season regardless of where they live! The majority games will air on The AE on ESPN, either ESPN+ or ESPN3, in the United States. Games will also be available internationally on AmericaEast.TV. Those games will be available on computers, OTT devices and the brand new America East app, which is available on all IOS and Android devices and can be found by searching ‘America East Conference’ in app stores.
 
The UMBC at Vermont matchup on Jan. 11 was announced as a nationally televised contest.

The men’s #AEHoops preseason poll was announced on Oct. 18.

Player of the Week
Earl Timberlake, Bryant - Sr., Forward, Washinton, D.C.                             
  • Put together an all-around dominating performance registering a triple-double of 15 points, 11 rebounds and 10 assists in a win over Drexel on Friday.
  • The triple-double is the first by an America East player in nearly seven years. UMass Lowell’s Jahad Thomas completed the feat on Jan. 14, 2017 vs. Hartford.
  • Also had two steals and committed zero turnovers.
  • Shot 71 percent from the floor.
  • This is Timberlake's second-straight men’s #AEHoops Player of the Week honor.
 
Rookie of the Week
Tariq Francis, NJIT - Fr., Guard, Pittsburgh, Pa.
  • Scored 12 points and added six assists in NJIT’s win over Medgar Evers.
  • This is Francis' second-straight career #AEHoops Rookie of the Week honor.
