UAlbany’s Alison Smisdom earned NFHCA First Team honors for the second straight year while Tasmin Cookman from New Hampshire was selected to the Second-Team. UMass Lowell’s Alissia de Vries was honored on the Third Team. This marks the fourth time in the past five seasons that three schools had players earn All-America recognition from the NFHCA.
NFHCA All-America List
Smisdom led the Great Danes with 23 goals as they captured a share of the regular season championship and advanced to the #AEFH Championship. The 2023 #AEFH Midfielder of the Year totaled a league-best 53 points with 15 multi-point games over the course of the season. She also set an America East record with five goals and 10 points in the #AEFH Semifinals against Maine. In addition to her offensive work, Smisdom led UAlbany with five defensive saves. Her 54 career goals already ranked ninth in conference history and her 128 points is 13th all-time.
Cookman earned her second straight All-America nod, after taking home third team honors in 2022. She is the first #AEFH player since Paula Heuser to earn All-America recognition in each of her first two seasons. Cookman, whose other postseason honors include America East Offensive Player of the Year and All-Conference First Team, ranked No. 8 in the nation in goals per game (0.95) and No. 9 in points per game (2.16). She finished with 18 goals and five assists, registering three hat tricks over the course of the season.
de Vries is the first All-American for UMass Lowell since reclassifying to Division I ten years ago. The senior anchored a dominant River Hawk defense that limited opponents to just 9.4 shots per game and 1.28 goals per game in 2023 as they captured a share of their first regular season championship. On the other end of the field, she had five goals and two assists for a total of 12 points. de Vries was previously named the America East Defensive Player of the Year, in addition to being tabbed to the All-Conference First Team and NFHCA All-Northeast Region First Team.
