America East Announces 2024 and 2025 Softball and Baseball Championship Sites

BOSTON – Set to take place in state-of-the-art facilities, the America East announced the locations for its 2024 and 2025 Baseball and Softball Championships on Wednesday. Binghamton University will serve as the host for the 2024 #AEBASE Championship and the 2025 #AESB Championship, while the University of Maine will host the 2024 #AESB Championship and the 2025 #AEBASE Championship.

Binghamton is no stranger to championship events, after serving as the host of the 2023 #AEBASE Championship in its brand-new baseball complex. The Bearcats also hosted the baseball championship in 2019 and 2010. Binghamton will then host the #AESB Championship in 2025, the school’s sixth time hosting the event since 2013. The Bearcats Softball Complex is undergoing enhancement renovations to receive lights, a videoboard and expanded fan and media seating prior to the upcoming season.

"We welcome the opportunity to showcase our first-class baseball and softball facilities and appreciate the trust the America East has in our ability to host such large-scale events," Binghamton Director of Athletics, Eugene Marshall, Jr. said. "I know our staff is up for the challenge next spring with baseball and again in spring 2025 for softball and I also expect both our Bearcat teams will be in the hunt for championships."

Maine, meanwhile, will host the softball championship in 2024 at its recently christened softball complex, which opened in the spring of 2023. The Black Bears last hosted the softball championship in 2010. In 2025 the Black Bears will welcome back the baseball championship after hosting it in 2022 and 2018.

"We are proud to be selected to host the America East softball championships in 2024 and the America East baseball championships in 2025,” said Maine Director of Athletics, Jude Killy. “Our vision, through the support of the Harold Alfond Foundation, has always been to provide our student-athletes and our state with some of the best facilities in New England. As the state's flagship University, our goal is to host as many events as possible and showcase our wonderful University to our community and peers. I can think of no better way to support that vision than to host these postseason events here in Orono. Our staff looks forward to providing a championship experience for all teams who visit Orono for postseason play in the spring of 2024 and 2025."

“Our member institutions continue to invest in their facilities to better the experience for their student-athletes,” said America East Commissioner, Brad Walker. “We are excited to bring these championships events to Binghamton and Maine so all America East student-athletes can benefit from that investment.”

Maine is the reigning #AEBASE Champion after winning the regular season title for a second straight season and claiming its first tournament title since 2011. In 2024 they’re seeking to be the first program in ten years to repeat as conference champion.

UMBC has claimed four consecutive #AESB Titles, becoming the second program in conference history to accomplish that feat with the Retrievers’ victory in 2023.
