BOSTON – The field is set for the 2023 #AEMSOC Tournament, though no seeding is confirmed any team as #17 New Hampshire, #21 Vermont and #25 Bryant all earned crucial victories this past week.
The Catamounts and Wildcats moved into a tie for first with victories over UAlbany and UMass Lowell with one game remaining against each other. The Bulldogs are two points behind following their dominant 5-0 win over Binghamton. UMBC and NJIT played to a 0-0 draw to conclude the week’s games.
On Monday morning the NCAA released its RPI rankings, which are used to rank teams based on their overall success. The America East was ranked fifth nationally as a conference in RPI behind the Pac-12, ACC, Sun Belt and Big Ten. The America East currently has three teams in the top-20, one of three conferences which can claim that, along with the ACC and Sun Belt. New Hampshire is 7th, Vermont is 14th and Bryant close behind at 16. UMBC is in fourth with an RPI of 33.
The regular season ends on Tuesday night with all eight teams in action. The battle between UVM and UNH could determine the regular season champion, if someone comes away with a victory. Elsewhere UMBC battles Binghamton, while Bryant plays UMass Lowell and NJIT travels to UAlbany. Seeding is still up in the air, as every team could finish with at least three different seeds.
The preseason poll was announced on August 9
