#AEFH Week 10: UMass Lowell Clinches Top Seed in #AEFH Tournament

BOSTON –  #18 UMass Lowell came through with a pair of victories over the weekend to secure the top overall seed in the #AEFH Tournament, while earning a share of the #AEFH Regular Season Championship with #19 UAlbany, who also won.
 
The River Hawks took down UC Davis 5-1 and then Stanford 3-0 to secure the top spot. UAlbany, meanwhile, edged Vermont by a 2-1 margin. California went 2-0 to earn the No. 4 seed, beating New Hampshire 3-1 and Maine 4-1. Bryant won its first two conference games in program history, taking down Stanford and UC Davis.
 
The #AEFH Tournament begins with quarterfinal action on Thursday as California and Vermont square off at 12 p.m., followed by New Hampshire and Maine at 3 p.m. Semifinals will be played on Friday and the #AEFH Championship is set for Sunday. Offensive Player of the Week

Bente Baekers, California – Gr., Forward, Rijswijk, Netherlands
  • Tallied three goals and one assist in a 2-0 weekend.
  • Scored twice in a 3-1 victory over UNH
  • Posted one goal and one assist in a 4-1 win over Maine to secure the No. 4 seed.
  • This is Baekers’ first #AEFH Offensive Player of the Week honor this season.
 
Defensive Player of the Week
Tina Jolly, California – So., Goalkeeper, Rosario, Argentina
  • Went 2-0 with an .875 save percentage to help Cal secure the No. 4 seed.
  • Gave up one goal and made six saves in a win over UNH.
  • Allowed one goal and had eight saves in a win against Maine.
  • This is Jolly’s second #AEFH Defensive Player of the Week honor this year.
 
Rookie of the Week
Mara Küskes, UAlbany – Fr., Defense, Mönchengladbach, Germany
  • Registered the game-winning assist against UVM.
  • Dished off her assist with just 1:32 left in regulation to help UAlbany earn a share of its first regular season championship since 2018.
  • This is Küskes’ second career #AEFH Rookie of the Week honor.
