River Hawks and Bearcats Claim 2023 #AEXC Championship Titles

Orono, ME – The Bearcats and the River Hawks claim the 2023 #AEXC Championship Titles. For their fourth consecutive year, the UMass Lowell men’s team is crowned #AEXC champions. And for the first time ever, the Binghamton women’s team earn the #AEXC championship crown.

UMass Lowell’s Mary-Kate Fin was the women’s individual champion took gold with a time of 17:17.18. Megan Randall, Maine took silver with a time of 17:25.27 and UAlbany’s Amanda Chambers rounded out the podium with bronze clocking in at a time of 17:40.13. Rounding out the first team all-conference is Sohpia Ryan, Binghamton, Hannah Doherty, UMass Lowell, Jasmine Trott, Bryant, and Sydney Leitner, Binghamton.

The River Hawks Wouter Van den Akker took a big lead throughout the race coming in at 24:07.14 and taking the gold. Followed by Ryan Slaney of Bryant with a time of 24:27.66 and Binghamton’s Josh Stone with a time of 24:31.20. Joining the top three with first team all-conference honors is Luke Marsanskis, Maine, Evan Thornton-Sherman, Maine, William Benoit, UMass Lowell, and Ryan Guerci, Binghamton.

Megan Randall, Maine was honored with Most Outstanding Rookie with her second place finish in the women’s race. While in the men’s race, Will Locke of Vermont placed 23rd earning himself Most Outstanding Rookie honors.

Lily Porth of Vermont and Ryan Slaney of Bryant earned the conference’s Elite 18 honors as the top finishers with the highest GPA. Porth, a junior in professional nursing with a 3.49 finished 10th. Slaney a junior with a 4.0 in finance finished second.

On the women’s side Binghamton’s coaching staff was honored with Coaching Staff of the Year and on the men’s side Maine took home Coaching Staff of the Year.
