BOSTON – #20 UAlbany kept its hopes of earning the top overall seed alive with a win against New Hampshire, while #18 UMass Lowell earned a crucial win against Bryant to stay in the running for the top seed as well.
The Great Danes’ 3-1 victory over the Wildcats has the two teams tied at the top of the standings with 6-1 records, while the River Hawks are close behind with a 5-1 mark. Vermont clinched a playoff spot on Friday with its 2-1 victory against Maine and finished the weekend 2-0 overall. Thanks to UVM’s win, Cal claimed the final playoff spot with a weekend left to figure out the seeding of the six teams.
The regular season champion will be crowned by Sunday, with a pair of #AEFH dates to wrap up the regular season. The top overall seed will earn hosting duties for the six-team tournament which begins on Thursday, Nov. 2.
UAlbany (6-1) and New Hampshire (6-1) each have one conference game remaining, with the Great Danes traveling to Vermont (4-3) and the Wildcats hosting the Golden Bears (3-3). UMass Lowell (5-1) hosts UC Davis (1-5) on Friday and Stanford (1-5) on Sunday. All three teams still have a chance at earning the top seed. Should all three teams win out and finish tied at 7-1, they would all be honored as regular season champions and the tiebreak for the top overall seed would be decided by goal differential in conference play. Vermont, Maine and Cal will vie for seeds 4-6.
