Bearcats and Black Bears Pocket Week 7 #AEXC Awards

Boston, MA - Eight teams returned to the course this weekend in five different meets for week seven of #AEXC. 
 
Vermont hosted their 2023 Fall Foliage Invitational and swept both the men’s and women’s overall with nine top ten finishes on the men’s side and six top ten finishes on the women’s side. Binghamton competed in the Canisius Alumni Classic this past weekend. The men took first place with Josh Stone and Ryan Guerci finishing in the top two spots, while the women placed second with Sydney Leitner leading the Bearcats finishing the 5k in fourth. The UMass Lowell men capped their weekend with two first place team victories at both the Suffolk invite and the 2023 Pre-Nationals hosted by Virginia. UMass Lowell’s women’s team finished 13th as a team at the 2023 Pre-Nationals and also competed in the Suffolk Invite this weekend. A handful of teams also competed at the ECAC/IC4A Championships. 
 
The 2023 #AEXC Championships are just under two weeks away. This year’s championship will be hosted by Maine at the Penobscot Valley Country Club on Friday, October 27th. Visit  #AEXC Championship Central for more information.

#AEXC Weekly Award Winners - Oct. 16
Male Performer of the Week
Josh Stone, Binghamton - Sr., Windsor, N.Y.
  • Took home gold for the second time this year at the Canisius Alumni Classic 
  • Stone’s 8k time of  24:03.6 led the Bearcats to their first invitational victory since 2021
 
Female Performer of the Week
Megan Randall, Maine - R-Fr., Bangor, ME
  • Randall placed seventh out of 288 in the women’s 6k at the ECAC/IC4A Championship Meet 
  • Posted a personal best time of 20:55.5, averaging a 5:36.7 mile pace
