#AEMSOC Week 9: Vermont Takes Over First Place

BOSTON – #22 Vermont earned its highest scoring output since 2019, while #24 New Hampshire, Bryant and UAlbany also came away with impressive victories to highlight the action this past weekend.

It was all about second-half scoring as UVM, UNH and Bryant each tallied four goals in the final 45 minutes to break open close contests. With the win, the Catamounts moved into first place in the #AEMSOC standings with a 3-1 record. The Wildcats are now unbeaten in last eight contests, but secured just their first conference win. Bryant and UAlbany earned their first conference victories as well.

On Monday morning the NCAA released its RPI rankings of 2023, which is used to rank teams based on their overall success. The America East was ranked sixth nationally as a conference in RPI behind the Pac-12, ACC, Sun Belt, WCC and Big Ten. The America East currently has three teams in the top-25 of RPI, with Vermont 8th, New Hampshire 15th and Bryant close behind at 23.

It's the last full week with non-conference action as six teams are in action on Tuesday, including UNH, UVM and NJIT. This weekend Vermont hosts UMBC with first place on the line, while the Wildcats welcome NJIT as they seek to make a playoff push. Binghamton travels to UMass Lowell and Bryant hosts UAlbany at 7 p.m.
