#AEVB Week 8: Bearcats, Retrievers, and Wildcats Earn Weekly Honors

BOSTON - Binghamton extends their winning streak to five as they remain unbeaten in conference play. UMBC bounces back to get their third #AEVB win of the season and Bryant goes 2-0 to also get their third #AEVB win of the season. This week features the Bearcats biggest test so far, as they travel to take on reigning champs UMBC, Thursday at 5 pm.

2023 #AEVB Weekly Award Winners – Oct. 17

Player of the Week:
Tsvetelina Ilieva, Binghamton – Sr., Outside Hitter, Sofia, Bulgaria

  • In a 2-0 week, racked up 34 kills, 20 digs, 9 blocks, and 39.5 points.

  • In a 3-set sweep vs. UAlbany, averaged 5.33 kills per set and a .306 hitting pct 

Rookie of the Week:
Hannah Howard, UMBC – Fr., Libero/D.S., Inwood, W.Va.

  • Led UMBC with 16 digs to average 5.33 per set.

  • Anchored a defense that held NJIT to hitting only .059, including 0.0% in the first two sets.

Setter of the Week:
Lottie Scully, Binghamton – So., Setter, Hurdle Mills, N.C.

  • Recorded her fifth double-double of the season after tallying 43 assists and 15 digs vs. LIU.

  • Registered 29 assists, 7 digs, 4 blocks and 2 aces in win over UAlbany.

Defensive Specialist of the Week:  
Avery LePore, UNH – So., Libero/D.S., Franklin, Tenn. 

  • In her 2 sets vs. Bryant, averaged 8 digs per set and helped hold the Bulldogs to hitting .07 and .039.  

  • In a 3-1 win over Merrimack, averaged 4.33 digs per set.
