BOSTON - After about a month break, track and field returns! Five schools resumed competition and competed in meets over the previous weekend. Bryant and Maine both attended the UMass Invitational for their first meet of 2023. While UMBC attended the Penn State Natty Lion Challenge. UMass Lowell men's and women’s teams collected multiple top performances on Saturday at the Ice Breaker Invitational hosted by Suffolk University. NJIT’s return was filled with top performances, breaking into the school’s record books on some events. And finishing out is Vermont who placed second at the Middlebury Snowflake Invitational.

#AETF Weekly Award Winners – Jan. 17
Female Track Performer of the Week
Maddie Stevens, NJIT - So., Sprints, Nashua, NH.
- Placed 3rd in the 200m with a time of 25.38. Stevens is ranked 3rd in the conference with that time.
- Assisted in taking 2nd in the 4x400, which is 4th in the conference.
Female Field Performer of the Week
Maria Owens, NJIT - Fr., Jumps, New Castle, PA.
- Took first in the long jump with 5.55m, which is 5th in conference at the Wagner Invitational. Owens set a new school record with this jump.
- Also took 1st in the long jump with a distance of 5.53m at the St. Thomas Aquinas Spartan Invite
- Placed 2nd in the triple jump with a distance of 11.51m, setting a new school record and ranking 2nd in the conference.
Male Track Performer of the Week
Shavar Staats, UMBC - So., Sprints, Ellicott City, Md.
- Ran a 6.82 in the 60m and took 2nd place.
- Staats time is the 3rd best in the conference and 4th best in school history
Male Field Performer of the Week
Jaden Johnson, NJIT - Fr., Jumps, Sicklerville, NJ.
- Took home 2nd in the triple jump with a distance of 14.42m at the Wagner Invitational.
- Placed 1st in the triple jump with a distance of 14.60m at the St. Thomas Aquinas Spartan Invite. Topping the conference leaderboard with his distance, while also breaking the school previously set by himself.
- Johnson also placed 5th in the high jump with a distance of 1.88m.
