BOSTON – Non-conference play is in full swing this weekend with over 50 contests scheduled from Thursday to Monday and four cross country competitions. Check out some of the best matchups this coming weekend and take a look back at who had a great week.
Teams of the Week:
- UVM Men’s Soccer (1-0-1): The Catamounts played to a 1-1 draw with No. 15 Syracuse and then took down Ivy League Favorite Princeton 2-0 last weekend for their second win of the year.
- UMBC Men’s Soccer (2-0-0): The Retrievers improved to 4-0 and rank second nationally in scoring after taking down St. Francis Brooklyn 4-1 and Farleigh Dickinson 2-1.
- Binghamton Volleyball (3-0): The Bearcats went a perfect 3-0 and didn’t lose a set as they improved to 5-1 on the year, highlighted by a victory over Columbia.
- Bryant Volleyball (3-1): The Bulldogs were 3-1 over the last week, highlighted by a 3-0 sweep of Harvard and 3-2 victory over Brown.
- UMBC Women’s Soccer (2-0-0): UMBC Didn’t allow a goal over the weekend as the Retrievers improved to 4-1-2 and claimed their fourth straight victory.
Field Hockey
- New Hampshire is 3-1 and could make a statement this weekend as the Wildcats take on a pair of ranked opponents. On Friday they face No. 23 American and then on Sunday look for the upset at No. 3 Maryland.
- Stanford is 2-2 but each of its games have been decided by just one goal. The Cardinal seek their second straight win as they host No. 2 North Carolina on Sunday.
Men’s Soccer
- Undefeated UMBC has scored at least two goals in each of its four wins and hopes to keep up the scoring streak when the team squares off against Fordham on Friday evening.
- New Hampshire is 1-2 this year and could get back to .500 with a win over Florida International on Saturday, who is 3-1 and receiving votes nationally.
Women’s Soccer
- UMass Lowell went 1-0-1 last week and travels down south this weekend. The River Hawks will be upset minded on Thursday night as they play at No. 15 Auburn.
- UMBC has won four straight contests and are on the road for a pair this weekend, squaring off against Marist on Thursday and then Robert Morris on Sunday.
Volleyball
- UMBC looks to get over .500 this week as the team hosts James Madison and Niagara on Friday and Sunday.
- Binghamton has won four straight and plays three more matches this weekend, squaring off against George Washington, Georgetown and Rider.
Cross Country
- Five programs race this weekend, with Vermont and Maine both headed to the Mariel Sanchez Invitational at Dartmouth. Bryant will host the Nassaney Invitational, while NJIT and UNH will also compete.
Fans will once again be able to watch nearly every America East contest this season. Select games will air on The AE on ESPN while others will air on AmericaEast.TV.
