BOSTON – It’s another weekend of conference play for field hockey, men’s soccer and women’s soccer, while volleyball open its America East slate on Friday. Stay on top of all the action by reading our preview of the weekend or view our complete calendar of events.
Saturday features a matchup between two of the conference’s most storied soccer programs, as UMBC travels up to face New Hampshire on Saturday evening in our AE Featured Game on ESPN+. The Retrievers and Wildcats have combined to captured seven of the last 12 America East Championships, with each earning a top-five national ranking over that span.
Field Hockey
Three different win streaks are on the line this Friday in four conference games. UMass Lowell (3-0) and Maine (2-0) face off at 3 p.m. as both are unbeaten in conference play this year and have won at least five straight games. Vermont (3-0), meanwhile, has won eight straight and looks to keep its conference record perfect when it travels to 2021 runner-up UAlbany (1-1) at 2 p.m. New Hampshire (0-2) hosts Bryant (0-2) while UC Davis (0-3) plays at Cal (1-1) in other conference action. Six teams play non-conference contests on Sunday.
Men’s Soccer
New Hampshire (1-0) hasn’t lost a regular season conference game since 2019 and looks to improve to 2-0 in conference play when the team hosts UMBC (0-1) on Saturday evening. The Retrievers have scored an AE-best 22 goals this year. No. 16 Vermont (1-0) travels to UMass Lowell (0-0-1) as the Catamounts are unbeaten in their last seven games. Bryant (0-1) looks for its first conference point at UAlbany (1-0), while NJIT (0-0-1) and Binghamton (0-1) face off with each striving for their first conference win of the year.
Women’s Soccer
Sunday features a full slate of games, including a matchup between two of the three remaining unbeaten teams in the conference. UAlbany (2-0-1) travels up to face Maine (1-0-2) to highlight the day, while Binghamton (2-0) looks to stay perfect at Vermont (0-1-2), who is seeking its first win of conference play after claiming the conference championship in 2021. Bryant (0-1-2) hosts UMBC (0-1-1) and UMass Lowell (1-1) travels to NJIT (0-2-1) in other America East action.
Volleyball
Conference play gets underway this weekend as UAlbany and UNH battle on Friday evening. Three-time reigning America East Champion UMBC squares off against newcomer Bryant, who was the NEC Runner-Up last year, on Saturday night. On Sunday, Binghamton plays at UNH while NJIT takes on UAlbany.
Cross Country
Seven America East programs will compete in the Paul Short Invitational on Friday morning on the campus of Lehigh. The meet will feature some of the top runners in the region and provide a look at who the teams and athletes to beat will be at the America East Cross Country Championship in just four weeks.
