Troxell and Giesing Earn Week 4 #AEXC Awards

BOSTON - This weekend three America East Teams competed in the Ted Owens Invitational at Central Connecticut State University. New Hampshire men placed 3rd overall and the women placed 2nd overall. Led by freshman Delaney Hesler who placed 3rd overall in the women’s 5k. Hesler was one of three Wildcats to finish in the Top 6 overall at the race. Both Bryant and NJIT men’s and women’s’ teams finished in the top ten at CCSU. 
 
Vermont, Maine, and UMass Lowell also competed at the Coast-to-Coast Battle in Beantown at Boston College, where Alec Troxell had a standout performance finishing the 8k with a time of 24:33.8. 
 
This week four #AEXC teams were regionally recognized. The UMBC men’s team is ranked 15th in the Mid-Atlantic Region. While UMass Lowell and Binghamton men’s teams are ranked 7th and 15th respectively in the Northeast region. The Binghamton women’s team is still ranked 9th in the Northeast Region as well.

Female Performer of the Week
Izzy Giesing, UMass Lowell - Gr., Bradford, Vt.
  • Took 10th in the women's 5K at the 2022 Coast-to-Coast Invitational with a 17:35.00 finish
  • Giesing averaged a 5:39 mile for the race
  • This is Giesing's first AE Weekly Award this season 
 
Male Performer of the Week 
Alec Troxell, Maine -Sr., Portland, ME 
  • Placed 19th in the Battle of Beantown Meet in the 8K race with a time of 24:34
  • He averaged a 4:56.5 mile for the race
  • This is Troxell’s second AE Weekly Award of the season
