#AEWSOC Week 6: UAlbany, Maine Stay Unbeaten

BOSTON – Week two of #AEWSOC play saw UAlbany, Maine and New Hampshire post wins while Vermont and Bryant deadlocked.
 
The Great Danes downed UMass Lowell, 1-0, largely in part to a standout performance in net by Megan Hart, who had five saves including one on a penalty kick. UAlbany is the only 2-0-0 team and sits atop the standings, followed by Maine (1-0-1), which stayed unbeaten after a 3-2 comeback win vs. UMBC. UNH earned its first league win with a 2-1 victory at NJIT while Vermont and Bryant played to a 1-1 tie.
 
Eight conference games take place this week with full slates Thursday and Sunday. 
The top six teams in the final #AEWSOC standings will qualify for this year’s America East Women’s Soccer Championship. Championship Central
 
2022 #AEWSOC Weekly Award Winners – Sept. 26
Offensive Player of the Week
Maya Anand, Binghamton – Sr., Forward, Leesburg, Va.
  • Scored twice in Binghamton’s win over Delaware State on Saturday.
  • Anand now leads the conference with six goals this season.
  • Had a hat trick and an assist in win over Stonehill on Thursday.
  • This is Anand’s first #AEWSOC Offensive Player of the Week honor of the season and second of her career (8/30/21).
Defensive Player of the Week
Megan Hart, UAlbany – Jr., Goalkeeper, Schenectady, N.Y.
  • Stopped all five shots she faced to record her first career shutout in a 1-0 win over UMass Lowell on Sunday.
  • Made a diving save on a penalty kick in the sixth minute to keep the River Hawks off the board.
  • This is Hart’s first career Defensive Player of the Week honor.
Rookie of the Week
Emily Jozak, UAlbany – Fr., Forward, Wayne, N.J.
  • Scored the lone goal in UAlbany’s 1-0 win over UMass Lowell on Sunday.
  • This is Jozak’s league-best third #AEWSOC Rookie of the Week honor of the season.
