Cross Country 9/21/2022 11:00:00 AM Ryan, Young Earn #AEXC Week #3 Awards Following Impressive Performances BOSTON - A successful weekend of cross country for #AEXC. Three teams competed this weekend. UMBC competed at Navy this weekend. The men took fourth place overall and the women took 5th place overall. UMass Lowell men’s and women’s teams both took first place overall in the UMass Dartmouth Invitational, with both men and women having two top ten finishers on each team. Binghamton women, led by Sophia Ryan’s impressive performance, and two other top ten finishers put them in first place overall in the Iona Br. Paddy Doyle Meet of Champions. Bringing Binghamton to 4th place overall, two men had top ten finishes in the meet. After this successful weekend of competition, the UMass Lowell men have moved up one spot in the regional rankings and are now ranked 7th in the Northeast Region. Binghamton men are also still ranked, and are now 15th in the Northeast Region. Moving into the rankings this week is the Binghamton women, who are now regionally ranked at 9th in the Northeast Region. Here are the Week #3 Awards Female Performer of the Week Sophia Ryan, Binghamton - Gr., Manlius, N.Y. The graduate transfer won the Iona Meet of Champions on Friday and led Binghamton to the team title. She covered the 5k course in 17:48 which was 15 seconds ahead of the rest of the field. Male Performer of the Week Joe Young, UMass Lowell - Jr., Dorchester, Mass. Placed seventh overall at the 2022 UMass Dartmouth Invite with a time of 25:00.1 and an average mile pace of 5:00.1.
