BOSTON – Each of the six #AEVB programs earned at least one victory last week, highlighted by a 2-0 effort from UMBC who took down Sun Belt preseason favorite James Madison in five sets on Friday evening.
This week features 21 non-conference matches, with all six programs on the road throughout the entire weekend.
The preseason poll was announced on August 10.
2022 #AEVB Weekly Award Winners – Sept. 13
Player of the Week
Mia Bilusic, UMBC – So., Outside, Zagreb, Croatia
- Averaged 4.56 kills per set while hitting .345 with a pair of double-doubles in two wins.
- Posted 22 kills, 12 digs and 22.5 points in a five-set win over James Madison.
- Totaled 19 kills, 10 digs and six aces in a four-set win against Niagara.
Setter of the Week
Serin Maden, UMBC – Fr., Setter, Ankara, Turkey
- Averaged 11.1 assists per set with 22 total digs and four aces in a 2-0 week.
- Finished with 52 assists, 11 digs and three aces in a five-set win over James Madison.
- Dished off 48 assists with 11 digs in a four-set win versus Niagara.
Defensive Specialist of the Week
Doga Emil, NJIT – Fr., Libero, Istanbul, Turkey
- Averaged 5.19 digs per set in a 2-2 week with 15 total assists.
- Posted 23 digs and three assists in a four-set loss to FDU.
- Finished with 19 digs and six assists in a 3-0 sweep of Saint Peter’s.
Rookie of the Week
Guilia Bonifacio, Binghamton – Fr., Right Side, Alba, Italy
- Averaged 3.18 kills and 2.82 digs per set while hitting .303 in a 2-1 week.
- Posted 13 kills and 13 digs while hitting .455 in a 3-0 win over George Washington.
- Hit. 500 with 10 kills, seven digs and three blocks in a 3-0 win against Rider.
