BOSTON - The 2022 #AEWSOC season kicked off over the weekend and eight of the league’s nine teams earned points. NJIT led the way going 1-0-1 including a win over St. Peter's and a tie against Big East foe St. John's. Binghamton, Bryant, Maine, UMass Lowell, UNH and Vermont also picked up wins.
Sixteen more non-conference games take place this weekend, including six on AETV and three on ESPN+, including Vermont hosting nationally-ranked South Carolina on Sunday.
The preseason poll was announced on August 8.
2022 #AEWSOC Weekly Award Winners – Aug. 22
Offensive Player of the Week
Ciara Adams, NJIT – So., Forward/Midfielder, Flemington, N.J.
- Scored twice in NJIT’s season opening win over St. Peter’s on Thursday.
- Helped NJIT go a league-best 1-0-1 last week including a tie again Big East foe St. John’s.
- Was the only #AEWSOC player with two goals last week.
- This is Adams’ first career #AEWSOC Offensive Player of the Week honor.
Defensive Player of the Week
Nicole Scott, Binghamton – Sr., Goalkeeper, Kings Park, N.Y.
- Stopped all 10 shots she faced in her first career action in net.
- Made six saves vs. Buffalo on Thursday and stopped four shots in a 2-0 win over Temple on Sunday.
- This is Scott’s first career #AEWSOC Defensive Player of the Week honor.
Rookie of the Week
Madison Michaud, Maine – Fr., Midfielder, Gorham, Maine
- Scored a goal in collegiate debut, a 4-0 win over St. Peter’s on Sunday.
- This is Michaud’s first career #AEWSOC Rookie of the Week honor.
