Stockwell, Fernandes Join America East Staff

BOSTON – America East Commissioner Brad Walker announced today the additions of Ben Stockwell and Cayla Fernandes to the America East Conference staff. Stockwell joins as the conference’s Director, Communications & Digital Media while Fernandes will be Associate Director, Creative Services & Digital Media.

“We are excited to fortify our content team with Ben and Cayla, whose experiences, skill sets and personalities stood out during the search processes and will complement our staff well,” said Walker. “Ben and Cayla will be outstanding additions to our team and help continue to tell the America East story as well as promote our brand, student-athletes, teams and schools.”
 
Stockwell joins the America East after serving as the Director of Strategic Communications for Multimedia Services at the Northeast-10 Conference for the past three years. While at the NE10, Stockwell directed the multimedia efforts for the league’s 24 sports, oversaw the conference’s digital streaming network and the social media strategy. He also served as the primary contact for a number of sports and was the NE10’s primary videographer.
 
A graduate of Ithaca College, Stockwell previously served in communications roles at Assumption University for three years Castleton University for five years and University of Pennsylvania for two years.
 
“I’m thrilled to join such an outstanding conference,” said Stockwell. “I look forward to helping the America East execute its strategic vision as well as help push it forward and build on its reputation as a conference that excels at developing the complete student-athlete.”
 
Fernandes comes to America East after spending the last two years at Brandeis University. There she was the Coordinator of New Media, overseeing social media and video for the Judges’ athletic department. Additionally, Fernandes worked events at Harvard University as part of the broadcast crew for select athletic events.
 
A graduate of University of New Hampshire, Fernandes was a digital marketing intern at UNH as an undergraduate student.
 
"Having attended the University of New Hampshire, and interning with the athletics department for three years, I always knew my goal was to work with the university again in a different capacity,” said Fernandes. “Joining the America East Conference allows me to not only do that, but also do what I love with a variety of highly competitive schools and programs. I am very excited to see all the things I'll be able to help produce to grow the America East following and gain more exposure for the conference, its schools and student-athletes."
