Cross Country 6/21/2022 2:10:03 PM Mackay & Coddington Earn CoSIDA Academic All-America Honors AUSTIN, Texas – Following impressive seasons, Binghamton’s Emily Mackay and UAlbany’s Sydney Coddington have been honored as Academic All-Americans, as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). Mackay was named to the second team and claimed her second consecutive Academic All-America honor after being selected to the third team in 2021. Coddington earned her first Academic All-America honor as a third-team honoree. Mackay was named a United States Track & Cross Country Coaches' Association (USTFCCCA) All-American three times during the 2021-22 academic year. During the indoor track & field season, she was a second-team honoree in both the mile and the 3,000. In the 2022 outdoor season, she was a first-team selection in the 1,500, after taking sixth in the finals at the NCAA Championships. Furthermore, Mackay qualified for the NCAA Cross Country Championships last November and placed 52nd overall. In the classroom, posted a 3.56 GPA as an undergraduate Psychology major and earned a 3.92 GPA as an MBA student. Mackay was named the America East Scholar-Athlete of the Year in both cross country and track & field. She also earned Scholar-Athlete honors from the USTFCCCA in both sports as well. Coddington concluded her career at the America East Outdoor Track & Field Championships, where she took seventh in the 1,500 meters and helped the Great Danes came their 13th straight conference championship. Earlier this year she was named a CoSIDA Academic All-District 1 selection. Coddington earned a 4.00 GPA pursuing a graduate degree in Philosophy, and graduated with a 4.00 GPA as an undergraduate, earning a degree in Political Science with a minor in Philosophy. She was named an America East Presidential Scholar-Athlete upon her graduation in 2021. Coddington has won two America East Elite-18 Awards, recognizing the student-athlete with the highest GPA competing in the conference championship meet.
