Top Dogs Stay on Top! UAlbany Sweeps Outdoor #AETF Championships

BURLINGTON, Vt. – UAlbany’s dominance in outdoor track and field continued as the Great Danes swept the America East Outdoor Track and Field Championships for the 13th consecutive year.
 
It was more than a 100-point margin of victory for the women’s program, which won its 13th championship in a row with 246 points. The men won their 17th consecutive outdoor championship with 235 points.

The Great Danes began the day with meet records on the track and in the field. The quartet of Lucas Casab, Shakur Williams, Travis Williams and Garry Munro became the first 4x100m relay team to crack 41.00.
 

 
Shak Williams later set a new record in the 100-meter dash and was named Most Outstanding Track Performer. Williams also received the Coaches’ Award for compiling the most points over the course of the weekend.
 

 
Travis Robinson broke the championship record in the discus with his heave of 186’8” and also won the shot put to take home Most Outstanding Field Performer honors.
 
Munro set a record of his own in the 200-meter dash and earned Most Outstanding Rookie honors.
 

 
Caitlyn Bobb capped her incredible freshman year with three more awards. The UMBC sprinter broke the meet record in the 200m and ran the final leg of the record-breaking 4x100m relay. She was named Most Outstanding Track Performer, Most Outstanding Rookie and also received the Coaches’ Award.
 

 
Shelby Bigsby helped the Great Danes earn a bevy of points in the throwing pits as she won the shot put and placed second in the discus to earn Most Outstanding Field Performer honors.
 
UAlbany’s coaching staff led by Roberto Vives earned another pair of Coaching Staff of the Year honors.
 
A pair of grad students Sydney Coddington (UAlbany) and Ben Drezek (UMass Lowell) earned the conference’s Elite 18 honors. Coddington holds a 4.0 grade-point average pursuing a Master’s philosophy. Drezek is pursuing a Master’s in physical therapy with a 3.97 GPA.
