BURLINGTON, Vt. – The America East Outdoor Track and Field Championships returned to the University of Vermont for the first time in six years.
UAlbany and UMass Lowell lead after one day of competition.
Day 1 Highlights
- UAlbany’s Adrian Mitchell defended his title in the men’s javelin throw, with his winning third-round throw of 226’3” to give him a third career gold medal.
- Robert Blue became the first Great Dane in a decade to win the men’s long, leaping 24’7.25” to edge out teammate Louis Gordon.
- Patrick Pang, who won the weight throw at indoors, won a gold medal for UMass Lowell in the hammer.
- UMass Lowell junior Rachel Hill repeated as pole vault champion.
- Ludith Campos defended her title in the women’s hammer throw with the second-best mark in outdoor #AETF history at 197’4”.
- Aziza Chigatayeva completed a three-peat in the women’s 3000m steeplechase as Binghamton took two spots on the podium.
- The River Hawks took three of the top-four spots in the men’s steeplechase, led by Ben Drezek’s second gold in three championships.
- The River Hawks also took the top-four spots in the men’s 10,000-meter run.
The final day begins at 9 a.m. and will be streamed live on AmericaEast.tv starting at 10:30 a.m.
