BOSTON – The top-four teams in the baseball standings earned major accolades, which were announced Tuesday afternoon.
Stony Brook third baseman Evan Giordano was named Len Harlow Player of the Year while NJIT ace Ryan Fischer earned Pitcher of the Year honors. Binghamton’s Evin Sullivan was named Rookie of the Year and Maine’s Nick Derba received Coach of the Year honors.
The award winners were determined in a vote by the league's head coaches who were not permitted to vote for their own players.

2022 #AEBASE Major Award Winners
Len Harlow Player of the Year
Evan Giordano, Sr., 3B, Stony Brook
- League leader in OPS (1.249) and tied for first in home runs (10) during conference play.
- Also ranked in the league’s top-five in batting average and runs-batted-in during that span.
- League-high three Player of the Week honors.
- Seventh Seawolf in 11 years to be named #AEBASE Player of the Year.
Pitcher of the Year
Ryan Fischer, Jr., Right-Handed Pitcher, NJIT
- First Highlander to be named Pitcher of the Year.
- Racked up the most wins in the league and also ranked among the top-five pitchers in ERA, strikeouts and innings pitched.
- Threw a league-high two complete games, both times against conference foes.
- Just the second Highlander to earn a major award in baseball, joining 2021 Rookie of the Year Albert Choi.
Rookie of the Year
Evin Sullivan, Fr., DH, Binghamton
- Batted .337 in debut season, which ranks ninth on the conference leaderboard.
- Helped Binghamton grab the No. 2 seed in the championship.
- Was also named to the All-Conference First Team as a designated hitter.
- Second Bearcat in three seasons to win the award, following Thomas Babalis.
Coach of the Year
Nick Derba, Maine, 5th season
- Picked fifth in the preseason poll, Derba guided the Black Bears to their first regular-season title since 2013 and sixth overall.
- Led the league in batting average, runs, RBI, on-base percentage and slugging percentage during conference play.
- Maine pitchers racked up the most strikeouts against league opponents.
- Derba is the third Maine head coach to be named Coach of the Year and first since Steve Trimper in 2013.
All eight programs had All-Conference selections. Maine led all teams with six honorees.
Of the All-Rookie honorees, four were also All-Conference selections.
Ten student-athletes who excelled both in the classroom and on the diamond were named to the All-Academic Team.
The majority of award-winners will be in action at Maine this week for 2022 #AEBASE championship play. All games will air on ESPN+ domestically and AmericaEast.TV outside of the United States.
