Bramanti's Three Homers Lead Maine to Sweep

BOSTON – Maine slugged its way to the lone series sweep last weekend and has now scored a league-high 96 runs through the first three weekends.
 
The Black Bears scored 45 of those runs in the three-game sweep of UMBC behind eight home runs. NJIT took two of three from UMass Lowell, while UAlbany and Stony Brook won series against Binghamton and Hartford, respectively.
 
 
The preseason poll was announced on Feb. 4.

#AEBASE Weekly Award Winners – April 5
Player of the Week
Joe Bramanti, Maine – Gr., 1B, North Andover, Mass.
  • Hit .556, driving in 12 runs in three games against UMBC, including eight RBI in the opening game.
  • Bramanti slugged 1.222 in the series, homering in every game while also hitting three doubles.
  • This is his first career Player of the Week award.
 
Pitcher of the Week
Joshua Becker, UMass Lowell – Sr., RHP, Burlington, Mass.
  • Threw a complete seven-inning game in game one of Saturday’s doubleheader.
  • Earning the win against NJIT, Becker allowed one run while striking out nine Highlanders.
  • He has been honored for the first time this season and second time in his career.
 
Rookie of the Week
Ryan Knight, Hartford – Fr., OF, Peabody, Mass.
  • Compiled an OPS of 1.400 in four games.
  • Drove in four of his five runs on the week in a two home-run, four-RBI game to give the Hawks a win Friday.
  • This is his first career #AEBASE weekly honor.
