Maine Win Streak Hits Nine; #AEBASE Weekly Awards Revealed

BOSTON – Maine’s nine-game winning streak is tied for the fourth-longest in Division I among active streaks. The Black Bears swept a conference opponent for the second consecutive weekend, topping UMass Lowell twice in walk-off fashion.
 
Binghamton swept NJIT on the road in a divisional matchup to tighten the standings in Division B. UAlbany took two of three from Hartford as Stony Brook did at UMBC. 
 
 
The preseason poll was announced on Feb. 4.
 
Fans will once again be able to watch the majority of #AEBASE this season. Select games will air on The AE on ESPN while others will air on AmericaEast.TV. Those games will be available on computers, OTT devices and the brand new America East app, which is available on all IOS and Android devices and can be found by searching ‘America East Conference’ in app stores.

#AEBASE Weekly Award Winners – April 26
Player of the Week
Evan Giordano, Stony Brook – Sr., 3B, Sewell, N.J.
  • Slashed .615/.706/1.231 in four games, including series win over UMBC.
  • Giordano drove in four runs in the series and went 4-for-4 in the rubber game to lead the Seawolves to a win.
  • This is his second career Player of the Week honor.
 
Pitcher of the Week
Caleb Leys, Maine – Fr., SP, Middletown, R.I.
  • Threw six no-hit innings in the opener against UMass Lowell.
  • Leys struck out six and earned the win.
  • This is his first career Pitcher of the Week honor after earning Rookie of the Week honors on March 16.
 
Rookie of the Week
Jeremiah Jenkins, Maine – Fr., DH, Upper Marlboro, Md.
  • Slashed .500/.647/1.167 in four wins.
  • Jenkins hit .600 in weekend sweep of the River Hawks with four RBI and three runs.
  • This is his second Rookie of the Week award.
