Vermont Locks Up Right to Host #AEMLAX Championship, Field Set

BOSTON – For the first time in program history, Vermont will host the America East Men’s Lacrosse Championship. The Catamounts secured the tournament’s top seed with a 17-10 win over Binghamton on Saturday. With the win, UVM clinched at least a share of the regular-season title for the second-straight year.
 
The Catamounts will be joined in the field by Binghamton, UMBC and UAlbany. The Great Danes and Retrievers secured bids over the weekend as well.
 
The seeding and matchups will be finalized this weekend during the final regular-season games. The 2022 #AEMLAX Championship will take place May 5-7 at the Vermont's Virtue Field. Championship Central
 
 
Binghamton's Kevin Winkoff was a midseason add to the Tewaraarton Award Watch List. Vermont's Thomas McConvey and Stony Brook's Dylan Pallonetti were previously named. Tewaraaton Award Watch List

The preseason poll was announced on January 26.
 
Fans will once again be able to watch the majority of #AEMLAX this season. Select games will air on The AE on ESPN while others will air on AmericaEast.TV. Those games will be available on computers, OTT devices and the brand new America East app, which is available on all IOS and Android devices and can be found by searching ‘America East Conference’ in app stores.

Offensive Player of the Week
Kevin Mack, Stony Brook – Sr., Attack, Manhasset, N.Y.
  • Tallied a career-high nine points in Stony Brook’s win over UMBC.
  • Had six goals and three assists.
  • This is Mack’s first Offensive Player of the Week honor of his career.
Defensive Player of the Week
Tommy Burke, Vermont – Jr., Faceoff, Palm Beach, Fla.
  • Picked up 10 ground balls in Vermont’s win over Binghamton.
  • Won 21-of-27 faceoffs, good for 78 percent.
  • This is Burke’s second Defensive Player of the Week honor of the season.
 
Rookie of the Week
Amos Whitcomb, UAlbany – Fr., Attack, Salamanca, N.Y.
  • Scored four times in UAlbany’s win over NJIT on Friday.
  • Added two more goals vs. #10 Yale on Sunday.
  • This is Whitcomb’s third career Rookie of the Week award.
