Mackay Submits Top-20 Time to Earn #AETF Weekly Award

BOSTON – The UConn Northeast Challenge hosted a handful of America East track and field programs last week with UAlbany compiling the best finish among rival #AETF teams.
 
The Great Danes placed second behind host UConn in women’s team scoring and third in men’s team scoring. UMass Lowell’s men’s team finished first at Merrimack.

#AETF Weekly Award Winners – April 20
Female Track Performer of the Week
Emily Mackay, Binghamton – Gr., Distance, Endicott, N.Y.
  • Won the 800-meter race at Bucknell.
  • Mackay’s 2:04.47 run ranks atop the conference leaderboard and top-20 in Division I.
  • This is her first weekly award of outdoor season after earning a league-high four during indoors.
 
Male Track Performer of the Week
Dan Schaffer, Binghamton – Gr., Distance, Endicott, N.Y.
  • Won the 1,500m at Bucknell, slashing a facility record.
  • He ran a 3:40.89 which also is the fastest in the conference this season.
  • This is his second Outdoor Track Performer of the Week honor of the season.
 
Female Field Performer of the Week
Shelby Bigsby, UAlbany – Sr., Throws, Montclair, N.J.
  • Won the discus with a conference-best 166’9” throw.
  • Also finished second in the shot put behind a 47’5.25” heave.
  • This is her first #AETF honor of the year.
 
Male Field Performer of the Week
James Kotowski, UMass Lowell – Fr., Javelin
  • Broke his own school record in the javelin at Merrimack.
  • Kotowski’s javelin traveled 225’1”, earning him first place.
  • This is his second Performer of the Week award.
