#AEPlayoffs Preview - Women's Semifinals

The top-four seeds won quarterfinals games on their home floors Saturday to advance to the 2022 #AEPlayoffs semifinals.
 
#1 Maine will host #4 NJIT Tuesday night while #2 UAlbany hosts #3 Vermont. Both games will air on ESPN+ at 7 p.m. with a trip to Friday’s championship game at stake.
 
 
#4 NJIT (15-14, 9-8) at #1 Maine (19-10, 15-3)
  • Split the six prior meetings, including the 2021-22 season series, in which road teams won both contests.
  • This is the first postseason meeting between the teams.
  • Maine is making an eighth consecutive semifinals appearance while NJIT is making its first following the program’s first #AEPlayoffs win.
  • The Black Bears are in search of a seventh-straight appearance in the title game and have won 11 of the last 12 postseason games.
  • Their 13-game winning streak is the sixth-longest active streak in Division I.
  • The Highlanders’ 15 wins are the second-highest win total at the DI level since winning 16 in 2012-13.
 
 
#3 Vermont (20-10, 13-5) at #2 UAlbany (21-9, 13-5)
  • UAlbany leads the all-time series 23-9.
  • The two split the 2021-22 season series which happened in a three-day span.
  • This is the first postseason meeting between the teams since 2019 and sixth overall with the Great Danes holding a 4-1 advantage.
  • Vermont advanced to the semifinals for the first time since 2013.
  • The Great Danes are one win away from the title game for the tenth time in 11 seasons.
  • They have not played in the championship game since 2017 and the Catamounts are seeking their first title game appearance since 2010.

The two semifinal winners will play for the America East title and an automatic NCAA bid on Friday, March 11 at 5 p.m. at the highest remaining seed’s home court.

All 2022 #AEPlayoffs action can be watched on ESPN networks. The quarter and semifinals will air on ESPN+ as part of The AE on ESPN with a simulcast for international viewers on AmericaEast.TV. The championship game will be nationally televised on ESPNU. All three rounds will also be available via the ESPN app.
