BOSTON – The outdoor season is officially underway for all ten #AETF programs following an impressive weekend.
UMass Lowell was not short of headlines on the team’s opening weekend as Ben Drezek ran a top-10 steeplechase time in the country. Drezek ran the event at Raleigh Relays, where most of our weekly award winners turned in top performances.

#AETF Weekly Award Winners – Mar. 30
Female Track Performer of the Week
Izzy Giesing, UMass Lowell – Sr., Distance, Bradford, Vt.
- Placed second in the 800-meter run at Raleigh Relays.
- Giesing’s 2:05.31 is the fourth-fastest in DI in 2022.
- This is her second #AETF honor of 2021-22.
Male Track Performer of the Week
Dan Schaffer, Binghamton – Gr., Distance, Endwell, N.Y.
- Ran a 13:45.20 in the 5,000m which ranks third in Division I.
- Schaffer placed third among collegiate runners at Raleigh Relays.
- This is his first Performer of the Week nod of outdoor season after earning three during indoors.
Female Field Performer of the Week
Lauren Quann, New Hampshire – Sr., Javelin, Pictou, Nova Scotia
- Threw the javelin 145’7” at Raleigh Relays.
- Quann’s throw was the best among any javelin thrower in the conference.
Male Field Performer of the Week
Anthony Clavette, Hartford – Jr., Jumps, Scarborough, Maine
- Won the high jump at UMass Lowell Invite.
- Clavette cleared 6’7” which ranks atop the conference leaderboard.
- Clavette earned Performer of the Week honors for the second time in 2021-22.
