Maine, UMBC, Hartford Pocket Weekly Awards Before #AETF Indoor Championships

BOSTON – The final tune-ups of the indoor season took place last weekend and, the 2022 America East Indoor Track and Field Championships just three days away, teams begin to pack up for Boston.

#AETF Weekly Award Winners – Feb. 22
Female Track Performer of the Week
Ariella Garcia, UMBC – Sr., Mid-distance, Staten Island, N.Y.
  • Ran a new school record in the 600m at the Penn State Tune-Up.
  • Garcia finished in 1:33.74 which ranks third in the conference.
  • This is her first weekly award of the season.
 
Male Track Performer of the Week
Ben Cotton, Maine – Sr., Sprints, Glenburn, Maine
  • Finished second in the 60m dash in 6.95 at West Point Tune-Up.
  • Also placed third in the 200m in 22.79.
  • This is Cotton’s first Performer of the Week award this season.
 
Female Field Performer of the Week
Ashley Martinez, Maine – Jr., Jumps, Paterson, N.J.
  • Won the high jump at West Point.
  • Martinez cleared 5’7.25” ranks atop the America East leaderboard.
  • This is her first career #AETF indoor honor.
 
Male Field Performer of the Week
Anthony Clavette, Hartford – Jr., Jumps, Scarborough, Maine
  • Won the high jump at the Brown Invitational.
  • Clavette’s leap of 6’9.75” ties the best mark in the conference this season.
  • This is the Performer of the Week nod of his season.
